News This Month: February 2009

Seventh Grade Social Studies
-Seventh graders are currently working on Chapter 7 in our textbook. We will be discussing topics such as the formation of the original 13 Colonies, the Salem Witch Trials, pirates, and the Great Awakening.

Eighth Grade Social Studies
-Eighth graders are currently studying Chapter 21 in our textbook. This chapter focuses on American inventors and inventions, as well as big business owners like Carnegie and Rockefeller.

*Each student was assigned an invention to research. Students have an Invention Poster/Presentation due
on Wednesday, February 18.

Current Events
-Students in Current Events are asked to watch, read, or listen to the news on a daily basis. Check out the links below!

Illinois History
-Illinois History is an eighth grade class that is only offered for one semester.

Geography
-Students have just finished Chapter 1. We have been working on latitude and longitude, the five themes of geography, landforms, and space.

Constitution InformationEvery eighth grader is required to take and pass the U.S. Constitution test, as well as the Illinois Constitution test, in order to advance to highschool. Students will have three chances to pass.

Constitution Test Date: January 7, 2009
