Its All About Me
Hello! My name is Mrs. Fitch. I have been teaching for 9 years, but only 3 years at Cuba High School. I graduated from Canton High School. I then received my Bacholors degree from Spoon River College. I then went on to Illinois State University majoring in Family and Consumer Science Education. I have always been interested in the hands on aspects of sewing and cooking. I then become very interested in the development of the child. I am a stong beleiever that everything I teach you will use everyday in your life.
In my free time I like to spend time with my husband, family and dogs. I enjoy cooking, scrapbooking, sewing, and doing crafts.
Foods
This course includes basic classroom and laboratory experiences needed to develop knowledge and understanding of basic principles and applied nutrition for all ages. The course content centers around the following areas: food buying, safety, santitation and preparation techniques. Information related to careers in foods and nutrition is incorporated throughout the course.
Clothing
This course is planned to provide students opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of textiles, fashions and fabrics and to assist them in meeting the clothing and fabric (fashion) product needs of themselves, families and/or general public. The course content centers around developing students competency in the following duty areas: selecting clothing and textile products using goal-making skills; meeting social, physical, psychological and economic needs in evaluating, selecting and caring for clothing and textiles; appraising clothing/textile products which contribute to health, safety and confort; maximizing resources in selecting, constucting, altering, repairing and remodeling clothing/textile products; communicating intended clothing image to others; and approving decisions necessary for clothing and textile needs. Information and experiences providing students with an understanding of the psychological aspects of fabrick products as related to the needs of people, and the jobs and careers using competency related to textiles and fabrics are included throughout the course.
Child Care
This course is a combination of parenting and child development. The course content centers around parenting practices. It discusses the different parenting styles and how to use them. The birthing process is covered by each step. The discision of becoming a parent is examined. The different levels and ages of the development of a child. It discussed the process of how a child will develop mentally and physically.
Living Environments
In this course, the students will learn the basics of interior design. It covers the pricipal and elements of design. The many styles of homes from the earliest Americans to modern design and the uses. Floors plans are discussed and are created. The history of furiture design is discussed. Color, line, balance, and lay out are review and applied. The students will use all the information learned in the class to design thier own interior design board for a home. They learn about many careers that are related to the field of design.
Resource Management
Resource Management is a course that covers all the aspects of the mangement of money. It covers the law that protect the government, businesses, and the consumer. The students discuss the rights and responsibilites of the consumer. All the different taxes are reviews and how to use them to their benifit. They learn what life, health, car, and home insurance is and why they are important to have. The students also learn how to manage their money: checkbook, savings, and credit.
Adult Living
Adult Living is a very interesting class. This class focuses on the student and their lives. They discuss thier place in family. Friendships and relationships are discussed. They learn how to keep and work at relationships. Discussions of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood is covered. They learn what is takes to live on their own. They also learn about marriage. They hava final project where they plan and design their own wedding.
