Social Emotional - Guest Speakers
Mr. Carl Cannon was a guest speaker on Friday, March 19 at Cuba High School, and the major theme of his presentation was “Knowledge is Power.” Mr. Cannon was born and raised in the city of Peoria, Illinois and is a returned military officer. He took some of the concepts, and some of the discipline that he had in the military and applied it to a new career, which is law enforcement, specifically corrections. Mr. Cannon is about helping young people make good choices.
Mrs. Mary Jane Fulton was a guest speaker on Friday, January 15. She is a former graduate, teacher, and supporter of Cuba High School. She works at Illinois State University and is an Associate Director of Athletics. Her speech was about four virtues for the groundwork of one’s life’s journey. One is more important than the other and the virtues build upon one another. Mrs. Fulton said that academics, community service, developing character, and leadership are the four virtues. According to Mrs. Fulton there are numerous Cuba High School graduates that have followed the four virtues and that are living their dreams.
