On Thursday, December 7, members of the VFW Post 1984 in Canton presented awards to those students who entered this year's Voice of Democracy contest. Each participant composed a speech on the topic "Why Is Our Democracy Important?" and recorded themselves presenting their orations. Seventeen students from Mrs. Postin's English III class entered this year, setting a record. Two winners were chosen from the group to advance to the district level, Samantha Thum and Maddison Omohundro. All participants were given cash prizes for their entries.
