Congratulations to Joe Taylor, the recipient of Cuba Middle-Senior High School’s Golden Apple Award for the month of October. This year, Joe has made many adjustments to his science classes to meet distancing guidelines and overcome remote learning obstacles. He has continued to provide unique experiences for his students by creating or finding virtual/digital ways of doing science labs while working under physical restrictions. In addition to his work with students, Joe has always been willing and often volunteered to assist his colleagues with the use of technology or new software in their classrooms. He has provided professional development sessions on school improvement days and volunteered to assist with cleaning and disinfecting the building after school hours when we were without a regular custodial staff. Thank you for being a proactive and forward thinking teacher and colleague.

The English Student of the Month is given to a student who exemplifies outstanding characteristics in Mrs. Eddington's English class (9th and 10th grade). The selection is based on character, leadership, and the students willingness to learn the subject (not grades). The student of the month may be chosen for helping students in class, for encouraging and partipating in classroom discussions, and for strong efforts shown on assignments.
Payton was selected as the October English Student of the Month. Payton is a hardworking student who always presents new ideas in the classroom. He is normally the first to raise his hand during discussions, and always puts maximum effort in assignments. Recently, the students have been writing analytical paragraphs for their chapter readings. Payton does an excellent job on these assignments and, after he is done completing his, will walk around and help other students.
